2007 Season

The 2007 season, our first under the name "Mad Dawgs". In 2007 we welcomed (11) new players and there families to our team. In 2007 we were succesful in all aspects of the game. We quickly came together as a team and this showed with preseason victories over Guardian Angles in the Bernie Bowl and Bridgetown in the St. Jude's Bowl. The SOYFA season opened at Delhi and we came out with the same enthusiasm we showed in the preseason and began the season with a 22-0 victory. In week 2 we kept things rolling with a win over Sycamore 20-0 at Anderson's Brown Stadium. Week 3 brought Reading into Anderson's Brown Stadium. We were fired up for Reading after dropping two games to them in 2006 and came away with an impressive victory 16-8. Week 4 sent us to Harrison where we continued playing tough nose football, however this time we went scoreless in regulation and the first division game of the season went to sudden death. We never quit fighting in sudden death, but we came up short and suffered our first defeat of the season 6-0. In week 5 the 2006 SOYFA Super Bowl Champions Colerain Little Cards came to Anderson's Brown Stadium. These Mad Dawgs were ready for a fight and played some tough football, with the game going to sudden death tied 6-6. Colerain scored quickly in sudden death, leaving the Mad Dawgs to answer. Yet, we came up short for the second week in a row. In week 6 we faced our third division opponent in consecutive weeks when we traveled to face the West Clermont Chiefs. The Mad Dawgs took and early lead with an interception for a touchdown. Through four quarters both teams fought hard, but in the end the attacking defense of the Chiefs won out 20-12. In week 7 Western Brown came to Anderson's Brown Stadium and again the momentum swung the other way with Western Brown taking home the victory 18-0. Week 8 gave the Mad Dawgs a much needed bye and time to regroup after four battled tested weeks of football. It was time for us to start over and regain the momentum we had early in the season. Week 9 we visited Wyoming, where we found our old form and played a great game, coming home victorious 22-0.

The 2007 regular season had ended and we were rewarded with a #4 seed in the North Division Playoffs. Our opponent was the mighty Colerain Little Cards, the defending 2006 North Division Super Bowl Champions. On a cold November morning we set out on a new goal to be Super Bowl Champions. Our Mad Dawgs came out and played with a lot of pride, however the mighty Colerain Little Cards were too much for us on this day and they went victorious. Our heads were held high as we completed our first season as the Mad Dawgs with a 7-5-0 overall record and made the playoffs.
